A wonderful Antique Victorian Scottish brooch made Circa 1860. The piece depicts a noble looking stags head fashioned in Silver with beautiful engraved detailing.
The brooch is crowned with a large 6ct Amethyst set between the antlers leading to a display of colourful feathers protruding out from the top, possibly from a Pheasant.
Scottish jewellery grew in popularity in the mid- 1800s as Queen Victoria’s frequent trips to her Scottish Castle Balmoral saw her return with Scottish souvenirs and jewellery which influenced the trend in Britain.
This is a highly unusual find and beautifully preserved, a great collector’s item.
